In the third year he saw the Iai of Jitika Oshima Sensei. After this he also wanted to practise Iai.
After the war teached by Sensei Morihori Okada, Hanshi
he established in his house in Tokyo the Dojo "Hakushinkan", and teached Iaido and Kendo.
Since the beginning of the eighties he is endeavoured to disseminate Iaido in Germany.
He won the annual alljapan Iaido-Taikai Kyoto in the class of 7th Dan.
In 1973 he graduated 8 th Dan Iaido.
In 1981 he graduated the teaching titel "Hanshi".
In 1993 he graduated 9 th Dan Iaido.
Hakuo Sagawa Sensei died on 16th December 2004 in Tokio.
8.th Dan Iaido Kyoshi
There he saw Iaido for the first time from one of its teacher and was immediately interested in it. To end of the war he went back to the middle school of Kashima and after it started working in a bank.
In October 1971 he went to Hachioji and saw there Iaido again. He joined immediately the local club and began eagerly to practice.
In the following year (1972) he got his Shodan and continued until 1988 where he got his 7th Dan. In the year 1997 Soejima Sensei passed the examination for 8th Dan. He also got the teacher title Kyoshi.
Soejima Sensei was teached by Morihiro Okada (Hanshi) and Hakuo Sagawa (Hanshi).
Soejima Sensei achieved altogether eight times the nominating for the all-Japanese Iaido Taikai. In 1990 he won in the group of 7th Dan. He was actor in the official Iaido teaching video of the Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei (ZNKR).
At present Soejima Sensei is chairmen of the Hachioji Iaido federation and trains the Iaidoka of the Chuo university in Tokyo very successfully. His students always achieve good rankings on Taikais. Soejima Sensei is married and has two sons.
